DRY ICE BLASTING is known by several names: dry ice cleaning, detailing, CO2 blasting, dry ice dusting, and even environmentally sustainable cleaning. Dry ice blasting is similar to sand blasting, plastic bead blasting or soda blasting where media is accelerated in a pressurized air stream to impact a surface to be cleaned or prepared. But that’s where the similarity ends. Instead of using hard abrasive media to grind on a surface (and damage it), dry ice blasting uses soft dry ice, accelerated at supersonic speeds, and creates mini-explosions on the surface to lift the undesirable item off the underlying substrate.
COLD JET DRY ICE BLASTING uses compressed air to accelerate frozen carbon dioxide (CO2) “dry ice” pellets to a high velocity. A compressed air supply of 80PSI / 50 scfm can be used in this process. The pellets are made from food grade carbon dioxide that has been specifically approved by the FDA, EPA and USDA. When it becomes pressurized, it contains the ability to remove tough surfaces in a non-abrasive way. The cold temperature which can brought down to -80 Celsius (-111 F ) deep freezes grime which is then blasted away by the air pressure and the small dry ice pellets. This technology is actually used by Porsche and its dealers in Germany as a standard service. We’re just the first in the Greater Niagara Region to offer this service. It can be used for a number of different surfaces, including, but not limited to, interior of your car (excellent for removal of salt stains), engine bay, undercarriage, water and oil damaged surfaces, etc.
